animestump:

they are a witch’s two familars and have never gotten along, but one day the witch disappears and so they must go on a cross-country search in order to bring her home. along the way, the cat learns to loosen up while the crow gains worldly experience, and they both become better friends

Sometimes we should remember that storytelling is part of the cocktail of skills required for becoming a well rounded and sound scientist

Nice to be mentioned! Go Miniguide on how to do a good thesis go!

Glad that someone is mentioning the articles that my master is writing on "how to write a good thesis" on the original website. The text translate in English is more or less the following:

Do you need support for your degree thesis? This morning a friend who is graduating now told me that it is increasingly difficult to find an available professor. This is because the number of students is constantly increasing and therefore in the end the teacher never has time to fully follow the problems and difficulties of the student.

Fortunately he came across this blog and the articles helped him optimize the little time the professor gave him. It seemed like a nice thing to me and so I decided to share it with all online and non-online customers (there is no difference for us). Here is the link:

How to make a good thesis: the mini series

In the articles there is a bit of everything, from how to organize with the professor to look for useful material for the thesis passing from how to organize the work plan to the most experimental part of the thesis. In conclusion, excellent support for your degree thesis (virtually speaking).

Unfortunately (for me, but certainly not for a student today ...) the links are in English. Fortunately, google translate exist!

Where to print the thesis? well, you know better than me! Write me a message and / or find us in the bookshop, you will see that we will find the best way to present the fruit of your work at the best price!

No problem to work even remotely or directly from your home! Get in touch with us. We only need a PDF to print and we will define the binding together. After your approval we will send you the thesis (s) by courier or we will deliver them to you at the university.

Good luck for your last step towards the world of work!

Mirco

Every university has its own rules and budget cut usually translate in more teaching for professors and PhD students. Do not try to take action alone (just my 2 cents). If you think that what they are proposing is not acceptable get in touch with the rest of the PhD students and discuss a join and shared line of action.

You may want to check with the student office or a similar office at your university. In general if the external member like the idea and is willing to take some actions that should be possible.

First of all: drop the pride. Moments of difficulty are perfectly normal. You have gone so far in your master program that you reached the point of doing the thesis. Just do it and move forward to the next chapter of your life!

As for a good way to kick start a possible meeting with your supervisor you may want to consider this set or articles:

Tips and Ideas on how to do a good thesis

This is usually what I recommend to my students in various phases of the thesis. Just figure out where you are. Pick up a few relevant tips and discuss them with your supervisor.

I do not know about your domain so is not exactly easy to say. However, from a cross domain point of view, this is what I recommend to all my master students in their related work part of their thesis:

Define a Proper Categorization for the Literature Review

It will not solve your "novelty is not up to the level of our journal". However, is an ever green for improving the related work part of your paper. Practically speaking you want to categorize the papers that you believe are relevant a set of categories and build one or more table that summarize your categorization technique.

The content is targeted for both master and bachelors students and aim to be relatively generic. Consequently may be a bit superficial. However it could set the basis for the students.
Clearly does not intend to substitute proper supervision but to integrate it.

Do you see anything missing? Are these argument clears? What would you like to know more?

Thanks in advance for the feedback I am sure that it will be useful!

The discussion is at the following link:
